  Annual Rye grass is a popular seed sold for lawn and forage.
 Ryegrass adapts to a variety of soils and climates, and germinates and grows quickly, which makes this grass an important factor in establishing thousands of lawns and pastures in most zones. It does not do well in extremely hot southern areas.
Annual ryegrass makes a quick fill-in while slower grwoing perennial take hold. Ryegrass is a cool season grass used as a temporary cover for overseeding warm or cool season perennial grasses. It is commonly planted with clovers, vetch, and in deer and turkey plot mixes such as Imperial No Plow.  
Ryegrass is a no plow, no till seed that only needs good soil contact to grow. It can be broadcast over existing grasses, to fill bare spots, and prevent erosion on newly dug soil. Planting during a rainy peroid or Keeping the soil moist after throwing the seed provides quick growth.
