Buckwheat is great for quail, pheasant, dove, turkey, duck, geese, other game birds, deer and bee honey production. 

 
Buck wheat is an annual plant that grows in almost any type soil. Seeds remain on stalk after ripening, providing food over along period of time. Buckwheat grows quickly, maturing in only 10 to 12 weeks after germination.

Bee keepers like buckwheat for their foraging honey bees, since Buckwheat has a long flowering period. Buckwheat honey is dark colored with a different taste than clover honey.

 

Plant in spring after all danger of frost is past, or early fall, at least 12 weeks before first frost for fall forage. Buckwheat is not frost tolerant. Planting depth 1" or less at a rate of 1 lb for approximately 872. square feet.  Buckwheat is tolerant of acid soil, down to about 5.5 pH. There are more than 15,000 Buckwheat seeds per pound. Seeds have a hard hull and resemble a beech nut shape. pure seed. This buckwheat seed is un-treated, just as harvested, not certified organic.
